Trick or Treat | Festival of Halloween

Borrowing from Irish and English traditions, Americans began to dress up in costumes and go house to house asking for food or money, a practice that eventually became today’s “trick-or-treat” tradition. Young women believed that on Halloween they could divine the name or appearance of their future husband by doing tricks with yarn, apple parings or mirrors.
In the late 1800s, there was a move in America to mold Halloween into a holiday more about community and neighborly get-together than about ghosts, pranks and witchcraft. At the turn of the century, Halloween parties for both children and adults became the most common way to celebrate the day. Parties focused on games, foods of the season and festive costumes.
Parents were encouraged by newspapers and community leaders to take anything “frightening” or “grotesque” out of Halloween celebrations. Because of these efforts, Halloween lost most of its superstitious and religious overtones by the beginning of the twentieth century.

#5 Fun facts about satellites

Satellites travel at 18,000 miles per hour. That means in a given day, satellites can travel the entire circumference of the Earth about 14 times. A satellite gets better fuel economy than a  Prius . If you put all of the data that our satellites collect in a year on DVDs, it would form a stack nearly 4 times the height of the Empire State Building. There are over 2,500 satellites in orbit around the Earth. Digital Globe has four satellites around the world at any given moment, ready to take instant pictures of world events.

Automatic Bike Turning Indicator

Educate the world | JK electrocorps |  IEEE Project center in chenna i  The automatic bike turning signal system based on a microcontroller (MCU) available in the market is expensive and difficult to program. Here is a simple and inexpensive circuit that you can build yourself. The circuit is used to indicate left or right turns for a bike or two-wheeler. Two identical circuits are needed, one for left and one for right Circuit and working for Automatic Bike Turn Indicator Circuit diagram of the bike turn indicator is shown in  The circuit consists of ADXL335 accelerometer sensor, voltage regulator 7805 (IC1), LM393 comparator IC (IC2), two NE555 timer ICs (IC3 and IC4) and a few other components. ADXL335 is a small, thin, low-power, complete 3-axis (X, Y and Z directions) accelerometer with signal-conditioned voltage outputs. Only Y direction of ADXL335 is used in this project. The device measures acceleration with a minimum full-scale...
